At Hope of refugee women against poverty for the social wellbeing (HOPDEV) as grassroots Women-Led Organization We Create to secure environments for women and girls to manage their menstrual health without fear of harassment or violence. Ensure safe, private facilities in schools, workplaces, and public spaces and educate women and girls about their rights, personal safety, and seeking help in case of violence or abuse. Provide training on handling situations where health or hygiene needs might be compromised to Ensure access to support services like counseling, legal aid, and emergency help for victims of violence. Connect women and girls to resources for physical and psychological support.

Advocate for and support legal and policy measures protecting women and girls from violence and discrimination. Promote policies mandating safe and accessible sanitation facilities and protection against harassment. Implement community-based programs addressing safety concerns, such as awareness campaigns and workshops promoting respectful behavior and educating about gender-based violence. Also, Provide emergency hygiene kits containing essential sanitary products, especially in conflict or natural disaster-prone areas. Ensure kits are accessible, distributed privately, and safely. To collaborate with local organizations, government bodies, and international agencies, local communities and community leaders to address safety and hygiene issues. Jointly improve infrastructure and services. Continuously monitor the impact of health and hygiene programs on safety and security. Adjust strategies based on feedback and data to ensure effectiveness. Furthermore, by addressing these critical areas, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for women and girls to manage their health and hygiene with dignity.

HOPDEV is working to empower vulnerable refugee women and girls in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
