HOPDEV is a women-led, and self-led grassroots organization for women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including women living with disabilities, HIV/AIDS, and no income. It was founded in 2014 with a group of based-volunteers, women and girls, survivors of various civil wars in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Somalia, and Ethiopia, who experienced different forms of gender-based violence (GBV), sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), exploitation, abuse, and assault in their families and the entire communities.

The HOPDEV organization hereby constituted is a non-profit and local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) called : << Hope of women against poverty for the social wellbeing>> its shorten name is; HOPDEV. The organization is not free from political. It may be transferred to another Place In the territory, country or elsewhere in the world by the decision of the General Assembly (GA) on the proposal of the Executive Board or two (2/3) of the members of the organization.

Also created as the solution of challenges in which women and girls’ are facing in their locations and surrounding(s). And where we commenced a positive cycle in which women and girls are not considered as simple recipients of services and support but as actors of change for themselves and the host communities.

HOPDEV is therefore committed to improving, empowering, and helping the most disadvantaged women and girls claim their rights, challenge discrimination, and overcome poverty.

The Hope of refugee women against Poverty for the social wellbeing (HOPDEV) was legally registered as a women- led for Not-Profit and Non-governmental (NGO) with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, under the Board and Trustees in the Incorporation Act of 1962 (CAP. 5:03), Form C, No. TR/INC8243, in 2018.

HOPDEV is working to empower vulnerable refugee women and girls in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
